George Paton Gallery
The Venue
Established in 1975, The George Paton Gallery was the first institutionally supported experimental art space in Australia.
The Gallery is a visual art space with occasional performance art pieces.
The Gallery’s exhibition programs have forecast emerging trends in alternative practice, including feminist art movements, new and hybrid media, the phenomenon of the curator, and the return of painting.
Many of Australia’s leading practitioners are past exhibitors of the George Paton Gallery.
Our Scope
Setting Line were engaged by University of Melbourne to develop the brief for the replacement of this sometimes challenging, always innovative exhibition space.
